We are proud to announce that Dr Patricia Rice, Senior Research Fellow in Economics, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list for services to education following her six year tenure as Chair of the School Teachers Review Body (STRB).
Dr Rice was previously Associate Head for Research in the Economics Department before retiring in 2019. Her primary research field is labour economics and her recent research focuses on spatial aspects of labour markets, analysing the sources of persistent regional disparities in productivity and earnings.
She says of her award “My work with the STRB has been interesting and rewarding – the award of an OBE is a great added bonus”.
The function of the School Teachers Review Body is to consider matters referred to it by the Secretary of State for the Department for Education in relation to the remuneration, professional duties or working time of school teachers in England.
Congratulations to Dr Rice from all at St Anne’s.
